Hi. Was wondering if you can confirm a serial # for me. W 76706. If my research is correct the bike is from July (7) of 1972 (W). don’t know what the rest of the numbers represent. It has the appropriate stickers and badging for that year. Don’t know what model it is. Does have chrome front fork tips. Have not seen the bike up close – only photo’s. Any tips on identication. Thanks for time and interest in supplying information on these bikes. (It was my first “ten speed”). Carl

Hello Carl, sorry for the slow response. I think that you have the date correct. The last four digits are probably a sequential number to give the frame a unique serial number. Most of the 1972 Sekine bicycles in Canada and the USA had chrome fork blades. The higher end models had chrome stays in the rear. I do not know what the model designations were in 1972. This frame was made in Japan. In 1973 Sekine bicycles were assembled in Canada and there are brochures with model designations. Good luck with the “ten speed”.
